The site for his final Mass couldnt have been more appropriate: The square is named for one of Hungarys most famous statesmen, who served as the first prime minister after the 1848-49 revolution against Habsburg rule. The Congregation of Holy Cross recently marked the 150th Anniversary of the entry of its founder, Blessed Basile Moreau, into eternal life. It is separated from the left bank of the Danube by Hungarys neo-Gothic parliament, the countrys largest building and home of its National Assembly. To commemorate this important anniversary, the 2022 General Chapter declared a celebration to honor our founder, Blessed Basile Moreau, beginning on January 20, 2023, and ending on June 7, 2024, the Feast of the Sacred Heart (Decree 20).
